About the Lottery:
Art is the New Steel Campaign supports The Print Studio's (TPS) art education program: Artists in the Schools & Schools in the Studio. Over the past four years, TPS has delivered artistic programming in "high need" schools across our city. Children and youth are given the opportunity to explore their creative sides and to better integrate with the arts. Teachers, parents and students are uniformily enthusiastic at our efforts to enhance the education al curriculum. In total there are 22 'high need' schools in both the public and separate school board. In 2010 The Print Studio engaged and connected with 1,200 children. The goal of the Art is the New Steel campaign is to raise $100, 000 to bring creative programming to all the 'high need' schools. Such funding will allow us to engage 8,000 children. The Print Studio is a not-for profit charitable artist-run centre that offers many services and programs to artists, students, community groups and the public - bringing art, education and community together. Our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers are committed to providing an accessible and stimulating facility that provides a platform for creative expression.
